Fashion - inspired by a Korean herb garden
With the ISCHIKO summer 2019 collection, I have captured the wonderful world of Jeong Kwan, a Zen Buddhist nun who cooks traditional Korean temple food for her community in the Baekyangsa monastery just outside Seoul. Her quiet creativity, as she combines the natural colour of her ingredients in dealing with centuries-old recipes, impressed me.
I have translated this mindfulness into a clear language of forms, inspired by the simple cuts of Kwan‘s traditional garments. Surprising colour effects, gentle stamp prints and the subtle beauty of chance give this collection a completely relaxed serenity.
