ISCHIKO
Mud Resist Print

The ISCHIKO `Mud Resist Print` is a traditional Indian printing technique similar to batik printing. A paste of loam, lime, wheat chaff and natural gum is applied to the fabric, either with wood patterns or screen printing. Then it is dyed with indigo. Where the paste was applied, hardly any colour can be absorbed by the fabric, but occasionally comes through it so that a fine crack appearance is created, which is so typical for that printing look. The process can be repeated, which achieves colour shades and increases the variety of patterns.
