The inspiration for this print on fine cotton poplin was a woven checked fabric. Our textile designer photographed the pattern and then reduced it digitally to enhance the contrast, creating a graphic check pattern of fine lines - a print that mimics a textile surface texture. The first step is to print a grey tone on raw white cotton fabric, then in the over dyeing process, the printing ink is tinted which creates a special monochrome colour effect.
